Terry Cook No. 60 Wyler.com Toyota Tundra San Bernardino County 200 Race Preview
Terry Cook on Racing at California:
“I enjoy racing at California each year. I have a handful of top-ten finishes at California, but it has never been a place where we were really strong and competitive. With the great tests we have had this year, I hope to show improvement from past finishes and get a good finish for the Wyler Racing team.”
Terry Cook on California’s Challenges:
“California Speedway is a sister track to Michigan International Speedway, but it doesn’t drive anything like it. The racing at California is completely different. Each track has characteristics of its own. The drafting style here is very similar to Daytona and Talladega where you can get a great run on the front stretch going in to the first turn.”
Terry Cook’s California Expectations:
“We’re taking the truck that was on the top of the boards at the Atlanta test in January. The test was great for the entire team. It showed us the potential we have heading in to the 2008 season. TRD has given us great equipment and the Wyler guys have been working hard to get everything ready to go out and challenge for the win every week.”
Terry Cook Daytona Recap:
Cook looked strong in practice sessions leading up to the Chevy Silverado 250 last week, posting speeds in the top-three before almost taking the pole during Thursday night qualifying where Cook put the No. 60 Wyler Racing Toyota Tundra in the second starting position. Riding the highline coming to turn three on lap 25, Cook took a hard hit to the driver’s side when another truck made contact and turned up in to traffic, sending Cook hard in to the outside retaining wall. The hit ruined Cook’s shot at the win, but the team stayed focused, re-entering the field on lap 79. Cook went on to finish 30th.
Terry Cook to Visit Toyota Headquarters:
Terry Cook is scheduled to make an appearance at Toyota’s National Headquarters in Torrance, California, on behalf of Toyota as part of the annual Toyota Motorsports Day. Over the past few years, Toyota drivers have been invited to participate in the event, giving them the opportunity to meet, spend time with and sign autographs for the folks at the corporate office, adding special significance to the week in California, both on and off the track.
Terry Cook’s NASCAR Stats at California Speedway:
Looking to make his 12th consecutive Craftsman Truck Series start, Cook returns this weekend focused and ready, hoping to improve on his previous finishes at the two-mile track. Making his track debut in 1997 with a 23rd place finish, Cook has since earned three top-ten finishes on his way to an average finish of 16.9 in 11 starts. His best finish of sixth came in 2001 after starting 10th.
