Jack Sprague – No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota Tundra EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 200 Race Preview

Jack Sprague on Racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway:
“There is no doubt that Atlanta Motor Speedway produces some of the most exciting racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series,” said Sprague.  “The track is super fast and really wide which allows for some great side by side racing and a lot of passing.  If you get your truck handling well then you can stay in the gas longer and will be one of the fastest trucks out there.  But if your truck isn’t handling too well, you’re not stuck in the same groove all day.  You can move around and find a spot where your truck will handle the best.  That is something pretty unique to this track.”

Jack Sprague Carries Momentum to Atlanta:
Jack Sprague and the Wyler Racing team are carrying momentum to Atlanta Motor Speedway after a solid performance in the Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway last Saturday.  Sprague landed the top spot in qualifying, led 26 laps, and was one spot shy of his second win of the season after claiming second in the 200-lap event.

Jack Sprague’s Career at Atlanta Motor Speedway:

Atlanta Motor Speedway is one of only eight tracks on the 2007 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule that Jack Sprague does not have at least one win, but he hopes to change that as the Series’ returns to AMS for the EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 200.  “The guys on this Wyler Racing team have given me great trucks all year long and I expect that will be the same this weekend in Atlanta,” Sprague said.  Sprague and the Wyler Racing had a great truck at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Spring after qualifying second and running near the front for most of the race, but a late-race transmission issue in the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota cost Sprague his chance for the win with less than 33 laps to go in the 130 lap show.  “I’ve had some strong runs in Atlanta over the years but have had some bad luck and mechanical problems come in the way of a win.  We’re hoping to change that this weekend.  I guess you could say I feel like Atlanta owes me one.”

Wyler Racing Continues to Recognize National Breast Cancer Awareness Month:
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) and as a tribute to those affected by the disease, Wyler Racing’s No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota has been carrying the symbolic pink ribbon onboard the No. 60 truck since racing at Talladega Superspeedway on October 6th.  Wyler Racing’s Toyota will carry the ribbon at Atlanta Motor Speedway in an effort to help raise awareness about breast cancer and the need for continual screening by promoting NBCAM.

This Week’s Toyota Tid-Bit:

Toyota clinched its second consecutive Craftsman Truck Series Manufacturer’s Title after Mike Skinner’s Toyota Tundra took the victory in last weekend’s Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway.  The performance of six teams, including that of Wyler Racing, all contributed to Toyota’s second Manufacturer’s Championship.  Those teams combined to win 11 races, capture 51 top-five and 81 top-10 finishes in the first 21 events of this year.

Sprague’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Career Stats at Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS):
Jack Sprague feels like Atlanta Motor Speedway “may owe (him) one.”  To date, a win has eluded the three-time Series’ Champion at the 1.54-mile banked oval.  His best finish of fourth came in 2005 while driving the No. 60 Jeff Wyler Toyota Tundra.  But don’t let his stats fool you.  Sprague was leading by a sizeable margin with less than 10 laps to go in that race, but an ill-timed caution and fresh tires came out the winner.  In his six starts at AMS, Sprague has one top-five, and three top-10 finishes, including a top-10 run last year while driving the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota Tundra.
