Jack Sprague – No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota Tundra San Bernardino County 200 Race PreviewCalifornia Speedway Race 2 of 25 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Racetrack: California Speedway Race: San Bernardino County 200 Location: Fontana, Calif. Track Length: 2-Mile Banked Paved Speedway Race Distance: 100 Laps / 200 Miles Broadcast Coverage: SPEED Radio Coverage: MRN Date: Friday, February 23rd, 2007 Time: 8:30 p.m. ET Jack Sprague on Night Racing in So. Cal: “California Speedway is a really cool place to race. I have always been a big fan of night races so I am looking forward to racing there under the lights again. I think night racing is a better race for the fans; it brings a whole new dimension to how the trucks look on the track. From a team and driver perspective, night races usually bring cooler temperatures that are better on the equipment and more comfortable for the drivers. In my opinion, it won't change how you drive the track. If you have the right setup and are handling really well, the track is wide open. It will take a little more adjustment to keep from getting too tight as the track cools if it is really hot during the day. But we do have a final practice on Thursday that will run about the same time our race starts so we really should have a good idea of where we should be for the start of the race. I am looking forward to running the Con-way Freight Toyota Tundra at California Speedway and going for another win. We have had some good runs there in previous races so I think we should be a solid contender for a trip to Victory Lane." Sprague Scheduled to Tour Toyota’s Headquarters: Jack Sprague will make an appearance on behalf of Toyota at Toyota’s National Headquarters located in Torrance, Calif. for the annual Toyota Motorsports Day. Sprague is scheduled to sign autographs for Toyota employees at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21st, and will follow that up with a private lunch with Toyota’s Senior Management. The days’ activities should conclude at 3 p.m. Sprague Could “Three-Peat” at California Speedway: Jack Sprague will have the opportunity to “three-peat” at California Speedway, something that the Series’ Champion accomplished at Phoenix International Raceway in 1997. It seems only appropriate that 10 years later Sprague could capture that honor at California Speedway. Sprague has won at California Speedway twice (1998 and 1999). His win in 1998 came after defeating NASCAR Nextel Cup regular Ernie Irvan by three-tenths of a second. In 1999, Sprague claimed the victory at California Speedway and following the win, Sprague was declared the Series’ Champion. Toyota of San Bernardino Signs On With Sprague: Toyota of San Bernardino will be onboard the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota at California Speedway for the second year in a row as an associate sponsor. The dealership, which is located at 765 Showcase Dr. North in San Bernardino, Calif., has an extensive selection of new and pre-owned vehicles. Transporter Terry to Take his Freight to Con-way: Before checking in at California Speedway, Jack Sprague’s transport driver Terry Lynch, along with co-driver Keith Allison, will make a stop at Con-way Freight service center in Blythe, Calif. to showcase the No. 60 transporter. The unique visit will occur on Tuesday night starting around midnight which marks the busiest time of the day at the Con-way Freight facility. Sprague’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Career Stats at California: Jack Sprague has seen Victory Lane twice at California Speedway in a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series ride. His first win came in 1998 after starting 12th. The three-time Series’ Champion defended his title as the race winner in 1999 after qualifying third. His statistics are impressive. In only eight starts, Sprague has had six top-10 finishes including a top-five last year while driving the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota Tundra. 8 starts, 732 of 806 laps completed (90.8%), 78 laps led Win: 2 ( 25.0%) Average start: 8.4 Total Winnings: $177,675 Top 5: 5 ( 62.5%) Average finish: 9.1 Top 10: 6 ( 75.0%) DNF: 1 (Statistics courtesy of www.racing-reference.info) Sprague’s History at California Speedway: The 2-mile “cookie cutter” style track of California Speedway must suit Jack Sprague’s driving style well. Sprague has raced at the speedway in one form or another every year since it was opened. Sprague’s first laps around the track came in 1997 when the new track was placed on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule. Since then, Sprague has raced there in all three of NASCAR’s top-tier divisions; the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the NASCAR Busch Series, and the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. Sprague has also competed there in an IROC (International Race of Champions) car. Introducing the 2007 Wyler Racing Team!:
